TheDeke's Family
He was born in Dayton, Ohio and raised in Vermont.
He's the flatlander in a family of sixth-generation Vermonters. He
was an "Air Force Brat," which probably explains a lot. Deke'sDad
says he cost all of $8.50 -- "and worth every penny."
TheDeke's highlights:
Born at Wright-Patterson Air Force
Base in Dayton, Ohio. The Air
Force Museum is there.
From the Green Mountains of Vermont
to the Gray Canyons of Manhattan.
He's the computer nerd of the
family. Blame him for these pages.
His ancestry is as English as
English can be. But no dukes, earls, or kings. So far, at least...we
haven't given up yet on William the Conqueror. You'll find some early
CAMVILLEs from his era in the tree. They may - or may not - be related.
His earliest confirmed ancestor
is Anthony DIKE (DIX),
who arrived in Plymouth Colony in 1623 aboard the Ann. The first
Kenfield in America was William
(the deserter) in 1700.
For over a century, Kenfields
were associated with sawmills as sawyers,
blacksmiths, millwrights and machinists.
His grandfather was the last Chief
Engineer aboard the TICONDEROGA, the last paddlewheel steamer on Lake Champlain.
Here
she is on Lake Chapmlain in 1907. In this
picture you can clearly see the "walking beam" that transferred power
from the engine to the wheels. She's now in the Shelburne
Museum.
So here are his SURNAME
LIST and his List of Individuals.
And here's TheDeke himself.
